Simple Chart Module

I'm not sure this is the right place or not, please remove if i misplaced:

While i'm learning by doing, i made one simple module, Chart, using Jean-Marc TrÃƒÂ©meaux's Libchart v1.1.

Features

* Bar charts (horizontal or vertical).

* Pie charts.

* Line charts.

Files

* Charts.zip (105163 bytes)

* Charts.tar.bz2 (84309 bytes)

Installation

==========

Ekstrak to modules directory. There will be new directory containing files:

* Libs/Chart : the library

* Tests/Chart : sample

Activate via Main Setup option

I suggest to add something like

print('<img src="'.$this->get_chart(...).'">');

to body, so you can display it in traditional epesi way.

so what you mean is to make more simple just $vChart->display() like what i'm really hoping for. still learning and need direction 😃

and i just put it in body Libs/Chart/Chart_0.php?

$this->path - you can use $this->get_data_dir() instead, so your charts will always be in data directory of Libs/Chart module

Instead of $name passed to get_chart you can use serialized chart data.

something like:

$filename = $this->get_data_dir().md5(serialize($this->points)).'png';

and you can than do something like:

if(file_exists($filename)) return....

else generate png and return.

There is something what you should know about this kind of solution. Chart png is always in data/Libs/Chart directory, there is no acl check, everybody who knows filename can access it! You should write some download.php and create .htaccess, so you can't access directly to png file.

Additionaly take a look into Libs/FPDF (body and download.php)... There is file saved to session and returned to client by download.php, without any cache.

so many thx. I made a little change there.

$name used to be the Chart title and in my sample i put the filename like this:

$filename = $this->get_data_dir().md5(serialize($this->points).$name).'.png';

to make difference between 4 files.

And my apache get little error here while creating .htaccess file or maybe i'm so noob to create a rule. could you help me a bit how is it should be? 😃

One more thing, i have a plan to put the generated file in gallery as part of report (user/moderator to admin maybe) so i think no need to save in session as temporary. that's why in the first place i put the generated file in user's data path 🙂

:: this is maybe a little out of this topic but i looked at QuickForm modules, there's datepicker. how to use it?

$element = $form->addElement('datepicker', $field_name, $caption [, array $options]);

eval_js($element->getElementJs());

The 'eval_js' part needs to be done only once per page (not for every datepicker element).

In options you can specify, among regular QF options, date format, for example array $options could look like this: array('format'=>'%d-%m-%y').

Formatting is basicly the same as in function date in php, only a little cropped (for php's date see http://pl.php.net/manual/pl/function.date.php).

Hello,

The module listed in this thread is likely to be outdated by now.

However, in default EPESI package we've included the Open Flash Chart library that can be used in very similar manner to the module posted here.

Sorry for not maintaining my codes. Lot of happens a while but nice to back here 🙂
Will look forward to update the module with latest libs and hopefully with new modules if my clients agree to use epesi solution in near future.
