can't delete "Tasks - short term" and Clock

I managed to remove the Agenda and the Phone calls applets from my home page by X'ing them out, but nothing happens when I click on the Xs for "Tasks - short term" and Clock.

This is with Internet Explorer 7.0.

Update: I was able to X out the Clock after a few more tries. I still haven't been able to X out "Tasks - short term."

Update: I managed to X out "Tasks - short term" by clicking to the right of the X rather than right on the X.
