Email Integration

Hi.
Is there any plan to add a module to integrate emails communications?

That would be very useful, since most of the communication between us and suppliers/customers is done with emails and not phone calls.

For our company this feature would be essential.

Yes, we are working on e-mail module for some time now. The e-mail module will support multiple accounts, POP3 and IMAP protocol, SMTP authentication etc.
All e-mail messages are stored initially in a separate area (data folder of a user) not in the main database (we don't want to store all junk/spam in the database). Once the e-mail is received the address of a sender is evaluated against all contacts in the main database (whitelisting) and an option to move this e-mail out of user's mailbox into epesi will be available. It is up to the user to move it or not. If the user decides to move it then it is removed from the Inbox and becomes a record associated with this contact. This way all users of epesi can see e-mails from/to this contact and there is no need to CC or forward messages.
The e-mail module should be available within next few weeks.

One more thing: we are currently developing a module integrating Internet faxing (MyFax) into epesi. You will be able to communicate with your contacts (individual or mass communication, including mail-merge) via e-mail and/or fax directly from epesi.

E-mail module is most important missing parameter in this project. We hope to see this new feature in a short time. And i am agree with the idea of storing e-mail datas in any other area. So i only say "May it be easy!".
Maybe i missunderstood but second feature request that you have mentioned about fax server i think it won't be necessary at near and long feature cause digital signatures using almost all countries and e-mails work like official fax pages in today. On the other hand i know some companies that get into trouble with fax server solutions! It will cause lots of lost times and coding lines.

I decided to develope a module integrating "E-Event-Reminder" into epesi. If i complete this job, this feature helps to send scheduled e-mails including events information and other important messages like birthday or any other thing. I think it will improves to communicate relation with contacts via e-mail from epesi. I hope to finish in few weeks with your supports.

Hi,
there is module dedicated as reminder - it's Utils/Messenger. Right know it only reminds with popup alert when you are logged in, or with applet. In the future this module should also remind with mail, sms (phone text message) and fax. There are some known issues regarding this module in rc2. In version rc3, which is upcoming in very near future, it works properly.
About birthdays... I think it should be cron action in CRM/Contacts module. Epesi would send reminders about all your favourite contacts with birth date.

If you want to take care about messenger or birthdays we are happy to hear it, and if the code will work nice and smooth, it will be in next release.

Another very helpful option would be to be notified when new projects/tasks/notes are added.
This is very helpful if you are assigning the task to someone other then you. It will let them know to login and check for more info.

Module watchdog does exactly this. Just add subscriptions applet to the dashboard. Then subscribe to a record or the entire category (for example Contacts or Tasks). The watchdog will inform you about any changes to the record. This way you can assign a task to someone else but still be informed when this task is changed.

We are hoping to release pop3 version with next release.
Imap will be available someday 🙂 ok, we are hoping to include it before year 2009 😉

I think we will release it this weekend... Or something about it. There are some features left that we want to implement before rc5, so please be patient.

Fax integration would be good that allows you to use more than one fax provider. I like to use an internet fax service that I like and I think the flexibility of being able to use more than one service is a good idea.

Hi,
there is CRM/Fax module that depend on your own selected fax provider - you can have many installed fax providers, during fax sending it will ask about what to use. Unfortunatly for now there is only one fax provider: freeconet.
