i think i have similiar problem, but on the line that you mentioned before, i did't find C(256), and in the line near by i found it, but it is alread C(255)

i had this error, and i renamed (/data/config.php) and reruned setup.php, and i have different error - i paste it in the end of this msg

also i have a question - what should i change after succeful installation, if i want to put epesi bim to another directory? not root

When installing epesi from tar/zip file or from SVN the only directory that has to be read/write is "data". Setup will not continue anyway if permissions are not set right.
epesi runs from any directory you want, there is no special requirement as far as directory structure is concerned. It can run for example from http://www.domain.com/test/epesi:81 (port 81 in this case).
You should not need to run "setup.php" directly - just point to the directory where epesi was unpacked and if your HTTP server is configured to point to default file "index.html" or "index.php" it should start automatically. "index.php" will try to locate the file "config.php" in data directory and if it does not exist it will redirect to "setup.php" automatically.

To reinstall (assuming that you don't need to backup anything) just empty "data" directory. The database will be wiped out and all tables will be created again.

Please let me know if this is how you were trying to install epesi.
Searching on Google for this specific MySQL error code points sometimes to a default character set used by MySQL. To support different languages we use UTF-8

Actualy i used easyinstall. Installation failed and i tryed to rename "data" and create "data" with 777 to repeat install. Then i got exactly the same error.

Im using UTF-8 also.

I dont get it, what should i do to run epesi?

i cant login into cp, after this error, seems like installation not completed

Error is because of trying to make description field unique. Decription have its length 255 in UTF-8 it is breakes 1000 bytes limit. So you have to make its length less than 222.

The problem is with UTF-8 character set, even though on our servers it runs fine.

We are investigating how to overcome the problem. Again it does not appear to be a problem on our servers where crm_filters_group has utf8_general_ci collation. Please note that we use other components/libraries like phpGACL (http://phpgacl.sourceforge.net/) and it also uses indexes that should fail (for example table aco uses value(varchar240), selection_value(varchar240) and index is based on those two)

To help us with finding a solution can you please tell us what is the result of: (in MySQL)

We don't know why it works in our environment and not in yours. However we decided that we don't really need such a long index anyway. Please modify:
modules\CRM\Filters\FiltersInstall.php to read:
