It is true that epesi does not allow users to sort records by multiselect field. There are two reasons for this behavior:
- Ordering by multiselect fields would cause a performance hit, due to the structure of the database. Of course there are ways to minimize it, thus it's only a minor issue, but it's still a factor to consider.
- Most importantly: there's no one and proper way to sort alphabetically by multiselect field. Consider this example:
Contact "John Doe" was assigned to companies "ABC Product" and "Zero & co.". Now let's say you can actually sort by Company Name field - should "John Doe" be listed as the first or the last on contacts list? At this point you may also want to consider that one of employees in your company will remember John Doe being a part of ABC Product - expecting him to be first on the list, while another one may associate hm with Zero&co, expecting to see him last on the list.
For this reason we enabled both filtering and search by Company Name.
If you really need to order by Company Name, the only feasible solution would be to turn it into simple select field - that however would require a script to adjust existing data.
