Failure (500)

Hello,

First off, kudos on a great piece of web software. This is an amazing package.

I just ran the installation and started playing with it. I went onto the calendar page and it loaded correctly. I entered a new event within the calendar. I then went to browse to that event and received an alert window stating this: Failure (500). If you click 'OK' to this alert, the calendar tries to load, but does not fully load. It comes up as a broken page. Some of the content is there but does is not formatted.

That's all the information it gave. I searched the forum and found only 1 post that was similar, but the steps to resolution did not help.

Any help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. If you need any more information that I may have left out from this post, please ask.

Welcome,

We will try to address this issue - to do this it'd be a big help for us if you could tell us OS, HTTP server, database server and php version you're running epesi on.

We will also need information which version of epesi you are using - if it's not the newest release (1.0.0) I'd recommend to check it out. link

Another step is to check entires in HTTP server error log if there is anything regarding this issue.

Hello,

I apologize for the delay, but I have been very busy at work and have not been able to work on this until today.

I have downloaded the latest version of epesi from source forge and uploaded it to my server. I did a fresh upload, meaning i removed all of the old files from the previous release.

I ran the installation procedure again and now receive a new error after I enter the sql information. It states that my session has expired and that it is restarting epesi. It continually loops at this stage.

I looked at the Installation issues forum, and found one other user had this issue, but it turned out to be an issue with the source, so unfortunately, it was not much help.

Just some more information, I am running PHP 5.2.9 on mySQL 5.0.51, Linux, and Apache.

Hello,

There might be some kind of problem with auto-detection of where epesi was installed. We prepared a way to manually override this setting.

You will need file config.php in /data folder - if you didn't clear /data folder manually after the infinite loop you encountered, it should already be there. If it's not, please resend form from setup where you enter DB connection details.

After that, edit /data/config.php file and add

define('EPESI_DIR','path/to/epesi');

Changing 'path/to/epesi' to the actual path to your epesi installation.

I also came across the "Failure (500)" alert, when moving from local server to other server.

On local server everything worked fine, on the other server I got "Failure (500)" when clicking Companies or Contacts (didn't try any other).

It was a memory problem. The dirty way was to add "ini_set('memory_limit','64M');" at the top of process.php.

All users experiencing Failure (500) errors should check the following:

- see if you can get phpinfo() to verify that PHP works fine

- disable .htaccess completely and see if there is any difference. I was working recently on a new server and boht the deafult .htaccess generated by the hosting provider and .htaccess supplied with epesiBIM installation caused Failure 500 - renaming both of them fixed the problem. You can fine tune it later but at least you know what is causing it.

- did you make any custom modifications to the code? Custom modules? If yes please disable them, comment them out or check for proper syntax - one missing ")" or ";" will give you this error.

- check error logs - your HTTP server log (apache?), PHP log

Hello,

We have used the Epesi for 6 months. Everything was works fine(with a little bit hacking 😃 ).

Today we get a Failure(500) when try to add a new ticket. We have 51 piece of tickets. When we delete one ticket we can add 1 new ticket and when we try to add 52th ticket we get Failure(500).

It's really exciting problem cause we have more than 100 contact and that module work fine. So this is not a constant problem, it's only in the tickets module.

Epesi version: 1.3
MySQL version: 5.0.96
PHP version: 5.3.8

Any suggestion?

Failure 500 is an error sent to the browser when the script failed. We need to know the actual message to be able to assist.

Dear Arek,

We have hosted Epesi and we couldn't get acces for theese logs.

Only I know it's a Failure 500 error. We didn't get any other error message.

I will try to get the logs in the near future.

Hello,

I got the error logs:
Premature end of script headers: process.php
Script timed out before returning headers: process.php

I think the problem with Required tickets. I made some changes and the Required tickets is empty the ticket modul work fine. So this is a half sollution.

Any idea reduce the time to get the Required tickets? Or which timeout I need to increase?(Apache, MySQL,...????)

Hello,

If the process.php is not returning the headers on time, either there's a loop without a stop or the program is trying to process too much information. For instance, there's a definite reason we introduced the auto-select and Auto-multi fields, since at one point or another, any server wouldn't be able to create regular select or multiselect elements, there'd be simply too many records to work on.

Now, with modification you've made it could be anything really. There's nothing we can say or do without knowing what kind of modifications you've done. And depending on the scope of the modification, that may span outside the kind of support we provide on the forums.
