[SOLVED] Language & Translation

Hey,

Not sure if it's a bug or this is how it works but it definitely requires some improvements.
In Administration -> Language & Translations -> I added a new language pack, then clicked 'save' and now I'm editing fields's translations. When I enter the translation and click "Ok", it returns back to the first page of all fields, and then when I'm in the 2nd page I need to click 'Next page' to continue from where I left off.

It would be best if I could edit fields in bulk, whereby, pressing 'ok' after translating a field it'll show up the next field to translate. This would seriously speed up things.

On a side note, is there a quicker, easier way to edit all fields?

Thanks for the report - I'll add it to our tracker.

As for easier and faster method (for programmers) - check /data/Base_Lang/ folder and look for your language file there. It's rather big, so just search for module you want to tweak (RB recordSets are under RB).

Ok, some progress on this issue as well.
I was able to find the new translation file in data/Base_Lang/he.php (it's a Hebrew language pack).
It's MUCH easier to translate it by editing the file directly so do take my comments on improving the GUI translation process to speed things up.

One thing about this file though, I'm noticing that the he.php file (the new language pack) is 1320 lines long
while en.php is 2935 lines long which leads me to think that some translation variables are possibly missing or not needed to be translated maybe?

That is essentially correct.

The language file is built on the fly - as you see new content of the page - new entries show up in language file. So it's best to base your translation on en.php (which is built during installation, based on some already know phrases).

Also - you may encounter bogus entries sometimes - like entry that translates from the target language. We are aware that this may happen, we're on the lookout for those entries. In case you encounter one - just ignore it.

Ahh ok.
So what you're saying is that I should "in theory" see this new language file grow in time with new un-translated entries?

That's right - with every new untranslated string displayed on the page.
