EPESI is FREE to use for both personal and commercial use.[/size:1u3hbere]
You don't need to read anything below this line, unless you are interested in buying additional modules or becoming a developer and try to customize epesi and resell it as your own solution.
**********************************************************************************************
EPESI open source is FREE CRM version and includes the epesi framework and modules: Companies/Contacts, Calendar, Tasks (Shared To Do list), Phone Calls (a'la While You Were Out) and Notes/Attachments, Basic Import of Companies and Contacts, Projects with Tickets that we wrote for our internal use as a Bug Tracking Systems, Sales Opportunities, Login Audit, Watchdog, User Activity Report... and this list is not complete becase we constantly add new modules and applets - like Notes Applet (a'la Sticky Yellow pads), Birthday Applet... etc.
Also please note that is not some crippleware, time limited or limited to 5 users or with some functions disabled version. It has more modules than we use internally. We use the same bugtracking ourselves that we include in epesiBIM of course. We eat our own dog food.
It is FREE - released under MIT License wich states:

That means that you can not only use it for free, but you can also sell it, build other application and package it, we even inlcuded distro.ini file where you can list all modules that you would like to include in your custom distribution, we also included module dependency checker.
However you need to include in your software - if you sell it or just use it or modify and give it to someone, in other words - whatever you do with it:
The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software.
and the copyright notice says:
Copyright © 2011 Telaxus LLC
That's it. These 4 words that's it. We just want to get a credit for what we did. Whith the help of other great software, not even mentioning Apache or PHP or MySQL without which epesi would run, memcache, APC accelerator, Webmin, phpMyadmin, etc. - but this is just foundation. In our "about" we list what other applications, utilities or scripts we used to build epesi, and here it is:
Components used in the framework
* ADOdb - ADOdb is a PHP & Python database class library to provide more powerful abstractions for performing queries and managing databases. ADOdb also hides the differences between the different databases so you can easily switch dbs without changing code. ADOdb is dual licensed using BSD and LGPL. Copyright (c) 2000-2004 John Lim All rights reserved. http://adodb.sourceforge.net
* phpGACL - A PHP class offering Web developers a simple, yet immensely powerful "drop in" permission system to their current Web based applications. Copyright (c) 2007 Mike Benoit http://phpgacl.sourceforge.net
* Smarty - Smarty is a template engine for PHP. More specifically, it facilitates a manageable way to separate application logic and content from its presentation. Smarty is released under the LGPL (Lesser GPL) Smarty Copyright (c) 2002-2005 New Digital Group, Inc. Authors: Monte Ohrt and Andrei Zmievski http://www.smarty.net
* HistoryKeeper - A JavaScript-based library for managing browser history (back button) and providing support for deep linking for Flash and Ajax applications. HistoryKeeper is released under the LGPL (Lesser GPL), version 1.9 (alpha) (2006/04/14) Copyright (c) 2005-2006, Kevin Newman http://www.unfocus.com/Projects/HistoryKeeper/
* FCKeditor - This HTML text editor brings to the web much of the power of desktop editors like MS Word.http://www.fckeditor.net/
* TCPDF
* Leightbox
* Lytebox
* QuickForm
* ScriptAculoUs - script.aculo.us provides you with easy-to-use, cross-browser user interface JavaScript libraries to make your web sites and web applications fly. http://script.aculo.us/
And this list changes as we add new or switch stagnated projects - soon for example we will be switching from Prototype to jQuery because it is more powerful and very active Javascript framework. The most up to date list is available in you epesi installation under: Menu -> Help -> About.
You don't have to do that (list all components) if you use or distribute epesiBIM. But what is wrong with having access to information about who helped us build in some way epesi. Roundcube for example. Excellent web IMAP client. We simply included and integrated it with epesi.
We require also, that along with Copyright by Telaxus LLC notice there is somewhere an epesi logo (like on the login page)
or a smaller version of the logo that says:
epesi powered and the copyright notice.
[size=150:1u3hbere]Paid modules[/size:1u3hbere]
Since we need to make money somehow we write Custom modules to solve specific business processes (Custom modules are written to exact specifications of our customers) and will soon release Premium modules which are generic enough that many can adopt in their environment.
Both Custom and Premium modules are released under Telaxus LLC Commercial Software License and they are not free.
Some Premium modules are already written and they are being beta-tested. For example our Warehouse module is generic enough that we utilize it in e-commerce site: you can see for example: http://www.prosperixgroup.com/ - this site is epesi powered, as well as in transportation/logistics company that stores items in warehouses sometimes for years, sometimes for short period of time. The warehouse module is almost ready for general release and will be available soon as a demo, screencast and in our modules store.
The price of a module depends on complexity. Some consist of other modules and are more like packages.
Telaxus Commercial License is very flexible: it gives you access to the source code so that you can modify it if you wish, but this license does not give you rights to resell it to other parties - unless we would make other arrangements. Maybe we could write for you a Custom module that you will pay for with the intent to resell it as your own solution. This is fine with us. We will give you any help we can to make it happen.
I am sorry for this long explanation, but I tried to explain in simple English what you can and can not do with epesi. We know of a number of epesiBIM installations that customized the login screen with the logo of their company owners - but they left a link to our company web site and the copyright by Telaxus LLC notice. This is nice and legal. We feel great that our software is useful. Most of our users have explored other possibilities like SugarCRM, Salesforce or vtiger - and found epesiBIM a better fit.
On the other hand we know of few installation where not only the logo was changed but the copyright notice says: Copyright 2011 by someXYZ Corporation. This is also illegal. The Copyright notice can not be removed as stated in MIT license:
The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software.
