Hello and welcome to the forums,
In general, we perceive IMAP as superior to POP3. The one thing that POP3 delivers that IMAP lacks is access to your old e-mails without Internet connection and today that's hardly a problem for people using the Internet.
Especially if you want to access your e-mail using application like epesi - that requires you to be connected to the Internet in the first place (Intranet epesi installations aside).
Also - POP3 is not very reliable - for instance google gives limited support to it (the whole :recent parameter doesn't really solve all problems).
That said, we have no plans to replace Roundcube as it's working just like we'd wish for it to work and changing it to another client would cost us developement time that we feel will be better spent elsewhere.
And on the reports bits - can you elaborate please?
PS I moved your topic and changed the title.
