I have been trying to get the spell checker to work, I have found from the roundcube forums that I needed curl and openssl php libraries installed and running which I have now installed.
If I compose a fresh email (clicking compose in the roundcube part of the system), I can then click the spell check button and it will provide the expected respnse (detect mis-spelling, or say nothing found).
If I click the email address of a contact I get the following error:

the mis-spelt words appear between the [] after result.
