Hello and welcome,
Currently, to change the width of columns in the table you'll have to change the code a little.
In file modules/CRM/Assets/Asstes_0.php, around line 20 you can find the code:
$this->rb->set_header_properties(array(
'asset_id'=>array('width'=>10),
'category'=>array('width'=>10),
'asset_name'=>array('width'=>15),
'company'=>array('width'=>'80px'),
'general_info'=>array('width'=>70)
));
Simply copy one of the lines, change the label to the field you want to adjust and set width (either a number, as proportion or
number with "px", all in apostrophes, to set fixed width).
The reason fields don't change their width when you hide other fields is usually because we limit certain types of fields to fixed width, unless overriden with method show above.
We have plans to make columns view, order and widths managed by end-user, but no ETA on that yet.
Hope this helps,
Arek
