Hi,
Moving EPESI installation from Windows to Linux is easy and the procedure is the same as when moving between two Linux or two Windows servers. We have done many migrations from Windows to Linux and in the opposite direction, as well as moving between IIS and Apache. As long as you have correctly configured HTTP server with PHP support and the database server you should have no problems at all.
Follow these steps:
- backup the database
- backup the entire directory where epesi was installed (including application and data)
- setup new server vhost and create the database (with proper permissions) - the same steps as when installing fresh copy of epesi
- restore the database
- place entire epesi directory on the new server
- make sure that data directory is read/write
- edit your config.php files located in /data directory with proper login/password for the database
- launch epesi - it should work fine.
If you run into trouble then things I would check first are:
- permissions on data directory
- .htaccess (may be different between servers and since you are moving from Windows most likely will need to be tweaked)
- rebuild theme files - if you are on 1.3 then you can run http://yourepesiinstallation/admin as superadmin and use tools there.
Please let us know how your migration worked.
