We've made the decision to discontinue maintaining this module and as a result it's possible the module won't work properly with newer versions. The 1.3 version should still accept this module and there shouldn't be any errors. The message you're receiving is most likely due to missing Utils/Comment (also discontinued) module that is required by the Forum module, if you add this module folder to your installation, the Forum module should install properly.
The reason we're dropping Forum module is because first and foremost, the Forum module was more of an early proof-of-concept in EPESI. From our experience, users were not interested in having such module installed - it's very basic, lack many features and the interface is outdated by now.
If you feel differently about having a forum module in EPESI, please share it with us, your expectations, ideas, example of use.
