Sales Opportunities - Customer Name

Hello, I added a Contact (even tried multiple) to the "Customers" field of a new Sales Opportunity. However, on clicking Save, it gives an error "Field Required". This was also a problem on the Online Demo. Is there anyway to rectify this.

In addition, in the default installation the icon.png required for SO was not copied, hence I had to do it myself.

Hello,

I have just tested it and at first everything was working properly. But to cover all bases, I tried to recreate the issue with Internet Explorer and it is true that there is a problem with Customers field in Internet Explorer, something we definitely want to fix.

While we are working on the fix, I would highly recommend trying out EPESI using any of the browsers available, like Chrome, Firefox or Opera. Not only will this solve the issue you are having right now, but those browsers provide far better support for the modern web technologies, making EPESI look much, much better overall. (you can see some of the screenshots here: http://epe.si/epesi-overview)

If possible I'll be sure to attach here a quickfix that should resolve this problem for IE.

In addition to the above, I think the following subroutine is missing in Premium_SalesOpportunityCommon - salesopportunity_customer_crits

I want to filter one of my fields to show Contacts that include a certain group. Hence I tried to look how the above was done, but could not find salesopportunity_customer_crits()

In addition can you tell me how my _crits function should look like if I want to return Companies that have a particular Group value. Will it be something like...

Hello,

I apologize for the confusion the salesopportunity_customer_crits might have caused. The problem here is - this field was at first of type crm_company. Later on we added type crm_company_contact and that field type doesn't accept any type of crits. The 'crits' definition there is a remnant of the old code and doesn't actually do anything.

If your field is of type contact, then it's true that this exact syntax can be used to set 'crits' callback. And the callback you wrote is a proper one. You could also skip the inner array and just place 'source' as value, but both solutions are interchangeable in this case.
To clarify - all the array does is that group must have one of the values that are in the array. Since there's just one value it's the same as saying group must have the value source.

I guess that is why everytime I try to edit a "Customers" field in various modules, I get the following error...

Yes, that's very likely the same reason.

I apologize for the mistake on our end. Rest assured we'll aim to fix this problem for the next release and we also have plans to extend and improve the administration area of RecordBrowser.

I'm happy to say that the issue from the original post is now resolved and that "Customers" fields should be working properly in IE come next release.

This problem has surfaced again for me using Chrome version 26.0.1410.63 and Opera version 12.15. Epesi version 1.5.0 and Sales Opportunity version 1.4.1

When adding a new sales opportunity, unless the customer already exists, it triggers a validation error upon saving. The way I am understanding the logic is that if the Type is New Customer, it should automatically add what is typed into the Customers field. Otherwise, if Type Existing Customer then you must select an existing customer from the Customers field.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

This is not a bug. The Customer has to be entered into CRM Contacts (or Companies) first in order to link him/her to the Sales Opportunity.
The field to enter Customer is autolookup field, not a text field where you can type new customer name.
The customer field simply links CRM Contacts or CRM Companies to the Sales Opportunity.

Could this be a feature to streamline workflow? So that when "New Customer" is selected, the minimum appropriate fields become available to enter either a contact or a company.

Yes, anything is possible. Hower there is a simple and even more convenient work-around.

Open another tab in your browser and open another EPESI session there. In the second tab open your Contacts or Companies. Over there you can create a Contact and Company in one step. Once created switch the tab and start typing the name and it should show up.

Since there are more pressing needs I am afraid that we will not work on such a feature anytime soon. Sorry 🙁

BTW: I think we limited the number of simultaneous sessions in EPESI to three (3).
