EPESI on MAMP 2, Mac OS X 10.7.4 Failure 500

Hallo,
I am an PHP idiot but I was able to install MAMP on my Mac and use Joomla 😃 . During the EPESI 1.3.0 rev.9190 full installation I got a message "Failure (500)" after the step "Setup will now check for available modules and will install them. This operation may take several minutes" If I choose OK - the installation doesn't end. However EPESI was able to install tables in the database I created before the installation.
I selected the CRM installation.

I red all about the error 500 in this forum but I have no idea how to solve my problem.

Hello and welcome to the forums,

It seems you have error reporting set to STRICT. It's the same issue that was reported here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=347&hilit=strict
Changing the error reporting in php.ini should solve the problem:

error_reporting = E_ALL

is it the right place I should look for? What can I chage hier? it seems to be O.K.

It does look alright, but please make sure that this is the only occurrence of error_reporting that is not commented out (with ";"). Also make sure that if you made any changes to php.ini you restarted apache.

If it is, try changing the

display_errors = Off

display_errors = On

Then restart apache and try to run EPESI installation again. Because of the strict standards the installation failed and not all steps of the installation were finished, including building module priority order and EPESI won't run in this state. The error is recoverable, but since it was the installation stage more things may be broken and it's better to just start anew.

It doesn't work :cry: .
It was the only occurence of error_reporting I could find.
I changed display_errors from Off to On - nothing. I downloaded and installed MAMP and EPESI once again and got also again the Failure 500.
Is there anything else I could show you to find a solution. I belive that we can use EPESI. Your mailing Modul seems to be very interesting for us but first we have to be able to install it.
Please advise!

Hello,

I'd suggest the following step to really make sure what is going on:
- Check which php.ini is used with phpinfo(); script (details at the bottom)
- Stop the HTTP server
- Edit the right php.ini, change error_reporting to

error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_STRICT

- Also set display_errors to On
- Find error.log, clear the file (do not delete it) so it's very clear what errors are new and what's old
- In EPESI, enter /data folder and remove all the contents
- Start up your HTTP server
- Go to the location of EPESI through your browser
- Proceed with the installation, if you are stuck at any point, copy all error messages you are getting and put them here. If you don't get any messages check your error.log

If we can get the message you're getting after these steps, we'll do our best to help you resolve that issue.

Apparently you did not change php.ini it as it still shows you errors: Strict Standards.
On OS X MAMP php.ini file is in one of two locations (based on the version of PHP you are running):
/Applications/MAMP/bin/php/php5.2.17/conf/php.ini
- or -
/Applications/MAMP/bin/php/php5.3.6/conf/php.ini

You can also create phpinfo file and it will show you the location of php.ini in use.

A PHP info file displays information about your PHP installation that can be useful to troubleshoot your PHP installation. To create the file, open up your favorite text editor and enter the following:

<?php phpinfo(); ?>

Save this file with a .php extension, like phpinfo.php, and save it to a public location in your MAMP.
By default, PHP and HTML Pages should be stored inside the MAMP "htdocs" folder which is located in the MAMP Application directory /Applications/MAMP. This folder is called "Document Root". You can change the path for the Document Root in the MAMP application's Preferences Panel.

You can now view the output of thise file by browsing to the location, e.g.:

http://www.example.com/phpinfo.php

You will now be able to see information about your PHP environment that will allow you and others to troubleshoot your installation.

After you’re done with the file, you can safely delete it from the server.

I couldn't sleep. I did everything what you said ...... and it din't work. The reason can be the new MAMP 2. It has more PHP's: 5.2.17, 5.3.14 and 5.4.4 And all the time it used PHP 5.4.4 what I could see in preferences and now also wiht my first script <?php phpinfo(); ?> Wow!!!!!!!!
To be sure I changed all php.ini's as you described but it also didn't help.
Then I changed to PHP 5.2.17 in MAMP preferences and started the installation again - with success!!!

Hello,

We're really glad to hear you got it working!

Technically, EPESI should be working with php 5.4+, but there might be some quirks so it's not completely unexpected. Well be sure to include full 5.4 support in very near future.
