Hi Jasiek,
I do this sort of thing all the time without any problem. I may have a client who already has hosting with a company but no SQL and needs to test some software or a new website or anything that requires a database and use one of my spare ones.
The database is with 1and1 but the hosting is with a different company.
This shouldn't be an issue and have never had an issue with any software before.
As long as you have the database credentials to access it then there shouldn't be a problem surely?
Please can someone confirm that this setup can be run without the use of localhost only?
Checked error log and nothing in relation to the attempted install and database connection. The error would appear to be with the script not accepting the database url rather than an error in the php.
Having trawled through the forum it doesn't appear that anyone has had an issue like this before.
Is there any debugging I can enable on the install to see if any other error message will come up?
I find it hard to believe that I can't get over the first hurdle of actually installing the software!
What problems did you experience with the 1and1 install/hosting when you tried??
Thanks
