[quote:pvhrnaqr]It does not matter where your e-mail server is located. This is why you can choose the host name, port number etc.[/quote:pvhrnaqr]
Adam (above) asked me that, so I was just answering it. I was pretty sure it wouldn't make a difference.
[quote:pvhrnaqr]The mail server configuration (SMTP) in admin panel is needed to send errors, new user account login and password, password recovery etc.
More info here: http://www.epesi.org/Mail_server_settings[/quote:pvhrnaqr]
I have successfully set up the Admin Panel SMTP and successfully received messages from there.
[quote:pvhrnaqr]it has to do something with your database connection. Does EPESI work - I mean other modules (besides RC)?
Did you make any modifications to any configuration files? (other than /data/config.php)[/quote:pvhrnaqr]
Everything seems to work fine. I upgraded from 1.5.2 to 1.5.3 and I am getting no errors or any other indications that things are not working. Just can't connect to mail for some reason.
I am on a shared hosting system (A2 Hosting), but trying to access a mail server from another host (Dreamhost), and don't know if that would make a difference. I can put out a support request to them, but they will simply tell me that everything is working and the problem is on my end (and that they can't support third party software).
I can connect fine via TELNET to the mail server. Still not sure what the problem is.
