Error from the Record Browser Screen

Greetings;
I was using the Record Browser to look at the parameters of the "Customers" field in the Tasks table. I clicked on the edit icon (the magnifying glass) for the customers field, and I got the following error:

This looks as if a customer record was manually deleted from the database. Does it happen to all records all just this one?

This error did not come from the "customers" screen. I was trying to look at the attributes of the customers field in the Tasks table.

I navigated:
admin screen > record browser > tasks record set > manage fields > edit customers field
Then I got the error.

So I think the offset error is related to the attributes of the customers field in the tasks table.

It is irrelevant which screen you were in - tooltips read data from related recordsets, and your error shows:

Please verify, that all fields are active, not disabled or renamed. This is why I was asking if you modified or renamed tables in EPESI.

Login as admin and in RecordBrowser view Contacts and Manage Fields. If all fields are present and have the same names in your installation then the other possibility is that a record was removed manually from the database. Try to identify if it happens to all records or just one, and post your findings here.

I will follow your instructions;

I did add 2 custom fields to the Contacts table. I did this:
admin screen > record browser > Contacts record set > manage fields > new field

I also changed the order of the fields "First Name" & "Last Name". This was also done in:
admin screen > record browser > Contacts record set > manage fields

I did not change the name of any table or any existing field. I did not delete any records from the database.

I did not change or delete any existing records in the contacts::group commondata records, but I did add 2 new groups via phpMysql.

Please forgive my lack of understanding, but why would the contents of the Contacts table generate an error while I am editing a field attribute in the Tasks table?

I cannot test if this happens on other "records" because I am not accessing/editing Table records, I am attempting to edit the attributes of a field in the Tasks table.

I can tell you this, I can edit the attributes of the "Employees" field in the Tasks table. I assume employees data also comes from the Contacts table.

I am only looking at the attributes of the fields to understand them. I have not changed any values.

This should not cause any problems.

This operation is also fine.

Adding new groups should be done from Admin Panel editing Common Data table. Manipulating on tables directly in the database is very dangerous, unless you know exactly what you are doing. All modifications should be done via Admin panel. See this post for explanation about Recordset: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=256&p=4907#p4907

Tasks records are linked with other recordsets:
- Status, Priority, Permission - are coming from Common Data table
- Employees - from CRM Contacts - these are contacts from your company
- Customers - also from CRM Contacts, but also from CRM Companies recordsets.

Offset error means simply, that you are trying to find a record #X (id = X) but it no longer exists.

You can change values but changing attributes may have serious consequences. However even changing values - if done directly on the table - may cause a trouble.

One last thing - you must have changed something and are not telling the full story: in EPESI there is no Customers recordset or tables of that name. There is "company" and "contact" recordset but no "customer". What did you do exactly?

If you want to rename a field that already exists - use Translation tool.
If you want to rename the module, caption, menu - for example want to rename Companies to Customers - use the Translation tool.

Under no circumstances you should rename anything directly in the table. The effect would be the same as if you renamed your C:\Windows directory to C:\OSX

I am looking at the Tasks recordset. There is a Field in the Tasks recordset named "Customers"

Here is a screenshot:

This is the RecordBrowser screen, and "manage fields" is selects. Here I cannot edit data, only the attributes (like "field type = multi-select)
From this screen, when I click to edit the Customers field, I get the error.

This screenshot is difficult to read, can you please post a better quality showing the definition of "Customers" field?

"Customers" is the name of the field (not recordset) that links to CRM Contacts and CRM Companies - as explained in my previous post.
Your screenshot shows:
- Recordset: ----
- Recordset fileld: (empty)
- Crits callback: ----
This is why you are getting an error.

The original definition looks like this:

Please verify your "Customers" field definition.

My problem is, I cannot access the Customer field definition, I get the error message and the screen becomes unresponsive. I have to click the back button in the browser just to log out.

Try this: open some database tool like phpmyadmin and edit "task_field" table:

then open Customers field definition for editing:

and enter the following in parameters:

contact::Last Name|First Name;::;CRM_TasksCommon::customers_crits

Check also other values (compare with the screenshot) save and post here the result.

It's a bug. Installation of tasks give an empty param and this gives such error. I'll fix this in the edit form. It's not well designed for empty param.

Greetings, and sorry for the confusion.

I should have posted a clear screenshot in the beginning.

I'm happy to report that thanks to the wonderful instructions posted, I was able to get the "customers" field working again.

One other thing to report, it seems that the same "Customers" field issue is present in the "Sales Opportunities" and "Projects" record sets.

It was easy to fix, since I was given such excellent instructions!

Epesi is awesome software! You guys at Telaxus are brilliant! I appreciate all that you do. Thank you!
