Company Name

I'm new to this so require some pointers. The company data I am using has company names that are the same (and there is not much I can do about it)
As company name appears to be the unique key I'm thinking (unless there is a better idea) of putting the account number of a company in that field (which is unique)
But this then presents another problem in that a lot of the preview screens only show company name and not short name (which I was going to rename to 'account name' and put the company name in)

So is there a way to amend the preview screens and add 'short name' or am i missing a trick and there is a much better way of doing what I am doing.

I did think of concatenating the ac no and account name together ('12345 My Customer') but my concern was that if for any reason the customer changed its name a new record would be created.

I already explained in the other post that other modules do not show "Short Name" but "Company Name" but the database stores record ID not the name.

If you post a sample it would be easier to understand what you are talking about. Whenever we deploy EPESI and perform data migration the data is first cleaned, organized, normalized, new fields are created - and then data is imported. This can be a very complex process, but if you import garbage you will be stuck with it (GIGO).
