we've got some "find duplicates" or "find similar records" module written already, but it's still not release due to lack of time.
This is how it works:
1. As admin you can set rules to match duplicates in specific recordset.
2. You get an addon under this specific recordset's records with similar records.
3. You can view a diff between records in table format
[ Left value ] [ => ] [ <= ] [ Right value ]
[ Left value ] [ => ] [ <= ] [ Right value ]
[ Save rec 1.] [ Save rec 2. ]
Those arrows are buttons to copy value from left to right, right to left.
There is no option to copy notes from one to another or any other advanced option.
Is this what you need?
Of course you could apply this to the contact list to match by First Name and Last Name with a similarity rate 85%. It means that you can find that contacts like "John Smith" and "Joe Smith" may be similar.
