Installing Epesi in Joomla with existing host

Hi,

I have been trying to find some CRM software and came across EPESI and was very amazed how so many people have devoted to develop some amazing software. I have always been appreciated Open source software. However, because of my programming knowledge limitation, I have not been able to fully understand and make use of it or even donate my time towards useful contribution in the OS projects. Recently, I have started to read and try to implement some of the programs and have few questions, hopefully will be answered or be directed to the right source.

I was just learning to host a website and was playing with Joomla to create it. I was to add EPESI in my web. Is it possible to do so, if so how do i add it to my existing website ( in terms of downloading an configuring it right)?
I would really appreciate a good layman explanation.

Hi,

Yes - you can install EPESI along Joomla. If you have hosting service with some kind of control panel software like cpanel and also with Softaculous support then just follow these steps:

I can not provide more details because you did not state if your "host" is a standalone server, shared hosting, VPS. You need properly configured HTTP and database (for example MySQL) server, and of course PHP version 5.3 or better.

Hi Jasiek,

Thank you for the reply. I have a hosting server with ipage. I was looking for Softaculous but couldnt find it in the cpanel. If I just copy and past the EPESI folder in the file manager of the host, will I be able to do it that way? What are my options?

It looks that you can have unlimited number of MySQL databases: https://www.ipage.com/hosting-features
Yes - you can upload EPESI files into a directory on the server, setup the database and run the setup.

and make sure that you set your PHP to version 5.3 (or higher).

2- Create a new folder for epesi (call it what you want, maybe "crm")
3- Copy there your EPESI files (use FTP or the file manager of the host).
4- Enter your domain name and include an aditional path with your folder name
as in www.YourDomain.com/crm
5- Install EPESI

(you can create a subdomain just for your epesi, but first make it work!)

Note: always try/learn software at home, using xampp, not at live sites!
