Tabbed Browser Count

Is there a way to show on the tabbed browser a count of the number of items on that tab? For example something like Notes (8) or Activities (34). Also would it be possible to show through a tab color change if there has been recent activity on one of the tabs?

Tabbed browser gets just tabs (labels) and functions to call to generate tab contents. In such situation you'll have to generate it's contents to display a counter in the label. It's ok and you can do this in your own module (with your own TabbedBrowser instance). But it's not implemented in the default addons mechanism. Function that generate content is not aware of the tabbed browser.
