address book greyed out

I cannot create groups, address contacts to any groups because in the email the Address Book is greyed out and so are all of the options that go along with it. Can someone assist?

Roundcube was modified to work with epesi's address book = contacts and companies. As such you don't create contacts or groups in Roundcube.

I have two different users working within Epesi. I have over 1800 contacts within Epesi. The new user doesn't want to have access to those contacts nor do I want access to his contacts. How do I separate the different contacts. I since cannot create any groups?

Well... epesi is collaborative software and the basic idea is to be able to share information and avoid duplication of records/data. As such most information is shared by default. If you want to limit access to any recordset you need to adjust permissions: http://www.epesi.org/Permissions
It is possible to limit access to contacts - for example a user can see only contacts that he/she created.
Menu->Administrator->Record Browser->Permissions

Maybe you should setup two separate instances of epesi: one for you and another one for another user?

Setting up two separate instances of Epesi would defeat the purpose of the CRM to begin with. We want access to each others information such as sales opportunities however we would like to keep our contacts separate. There is no need for him to contact or even know about my contacts. There is no need for me to know about or contact his contacts. This requirement will not change even after we add more people to the CRM. If we add 10 people it would not be efficient to add 10 different versions of Epesi so each person could have their own contacts. A CRM should have the ability to distinguish between each persons needs. If permissions is the way to do this then I will look in to that.

So do you want to share information or not?

If you setup a sales opportunity (for example) and enter customer X, which is not visible to another user - how do you want to share it?
Do you understand the consequences of your approach?

In addition to a very complex Record Browser permissions you can also set each record to be private (and invisible to other users) by default:

With this setup every contact/company (and other records) will be visible only to record creator and invisible to other users.
Of course this defeats the purpose of having a CRM...

There are going to be contacts that we want to be global such as the sales opportunities however there are other contacts such as my mom or my personal vendor for something that I don't want to share with him or anyone else. I will look into the instructions that you have provided.

OK - for personal information you should use "private" records. Your mom's record will be your private record.
