Import Problem/Error

Hi,
i have imported a lot of companies and contacts without problem...
...only problem is in a field that i have create to difference contacts sex (m & f)...all athoer field that i have create (work type, work rule, etc..) import is ok.

The error when i set "Common field" during import is (NB - In my CVS file there is a column "sesso" with value M or F):

Can i resolve it? Can tell me how?

This tab should show all possible values and selects to map proper value. As you can see the only value here is "2.8e+95" what looks like a float number representation... Is your field "Sesso" attached to the proper column in the column mapping step?
If it's, then could you please provide any sample of your data? One row is enough.

This is a part of my CSV file....

In column "sesso" i insert only "M" or "F"

How should I test this? 😐

To be honest I'm not sure is this an issue with import module and not user (yours) error. Please prove me that it's an issue in the module. Give me steps to reproduce it(all custom fields/modifications that you've got in EPESI are important), with some sample data file.

I confirm that there was an issue in the import module. I've fixed it. New version 1.5.4 is available in the store to download.

However there are still at least two issues that I've discovered.
1. I can't process more than 999 records.
2. CSV that's not UTF-8 encoded may lead to data loss... silently... Because MySQL adds just for the first not valid character. For instance csv file that you've send me has a iso-8859 encoded string for record ID=15 in the Ruolo column.
Use your XLS.

I've submitted both issues to the right person in our team.

I've updated "import plugin" and i have upoloaded xls file...but when i lunch "import" program system say error:

Fatal: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 95 bytes) in /home/unisincr/public_html/crmwip/modules/Libs/PHPExcel/lib/PHPExcel/Worksheet.php on line 961

Memory limit of 64MB is to less for your datasheet. Split data into several or try to change memory limit variable.
0. To check if your changes take effect open <your_epesi_url>/admin -> login as super admin.
1. Open PHP info. Use browser's search to find memory_limit. Left column is actual value.
2. Open FTP or SSH to edit main .htaccess file in your epesi dir. For instance /var/www/epesi/.htaccess
3. Find memory limit and increase... 256MB ?
Go to step 1, refresh page and check if it's more that previously.

I have changed files in FTP leaving same name and url...you can re-download it and control...i think (hope) is ok now ;-))))

So You've imported your data? I don't have to test it, if you've got it right 🙂 Those two issues have to be solved anyway.

OK...now is ok...i have eliminated these caracter and symbol, because i understand that are not permitted by SQL and CSV:
è, è, ò,à,ù,ì,/,',^,?,",£,$,%,&,\,|,etc..'??? (Are ok or some are permitted by SQL with CSV?)
So...now whene i import CSV it recognize correctly column "sesso" with two data "m" and "f".

Now...just to understand...if i wanna not eliminate caracter and symbol...what type of file i have to upload, XLSX or XLS)???

You can import csv file with special characters, but it has to be UTF-8 encoded. I don't know what tools you use to generate CSV file, so please look for the encoding settings during export or convert file to utf-8 after export.

I use Excel (function file>export>other format>csv)...it not able me to change format...
...i will try to use access.

So can you suggest me a good tool to convert XLSX into CSV (correct encoding)??? Or from CSV (incorrect coding) to CSV (correct coding)???

Why don't use xls, when it's supported in the import module? You can upload xls file directly.

XLS or XLSX...my file is XLSX...it's the same or i have to re-save file in XLS format???

Library used to read those files should be able to handle xlsx, but I'm not sure right now. Just try 😉 If xlsx won't work or even allow to upload, then save in the legacy xls format.
