Epesi is using function register_modifier() with is not compatible with Smarty 3. Has anyone already made this work ?

We haven't updated to smarty 3 yet, so not dealt with it. It's on TODO. If you would like to update smarty from 2 to 3 go ahead - fork on github and make pull request when it's done - we will test and merge it.
