Edit a core Module

Hello,

I had create a custom Module.
And now I would like to add a new Button to the core Module Meeting, that use my custom Module. And the delete-Button should also do a function of my custom module.
In the moment I only have create a Button in the original Source code from the meeting-Module CRM_MeetingCommon. But at the next Core Update, this will be deleted.

I think, the directory "patches" is the wrong way, because this only once executed.

How can I change the Meeting-Module permanently?

I think that you should use processing callback on delete action.
Please tell me more about your custom action on delete.

Thanks for the reply.

I have a Module to sync the meetings to the exchange server.
And if a meeting is deleted, the meeting should also be deleted in exchange immediately. So when the delete Button is pressed in the meeting Module, so should a sync-function of my custom module executed.

Nope. Delete button is just a button to call delete action. But delete can be done by some other module from the code.

You have to use processing callbacks and they are great in this case, because you don't have to change anything in the core module. You have to register you own processing callback for meetings recordset. Then handle deleted action.

And one more thing - you must not do time consuming tasks on user call. If your sync to exchange may last significant time then user will notice significant slowdown of UI. When user deletes meeting you should mark that meetings are out of date and they should be synced. Then you should use cron job every minute to sync meetings.
