I was not able to find a solution for this so please excuse me if I overlooked the answer elsewhere.

When I do an export from Note (utils_attachment) there is a Attached to column which is very important for my import. I am moving a client away from another custom (a friend of a friend made it in spare time system) to epesi. Issue is that when I get all the data together with the Name [Company] all generated there is no field to import to.

I tried to just manually do it through phpmyadmin but I cannot seem to follow how to tie them together.

If you are doing manual import check out utils_attachment_local table - there are:
- attachment field - takes id of attachment record from utils_attachment_data_1 table
- local field - takes recordset name / record id - so you should pass here company/SOME_COMPANY_ID
- for func and args fields you can pass N; (searching of that notes will be limited) or provide serialized array of record description callback like:
func: a:2:{i:0;s:25:"Utils_RecordBrowserCommon";i:1;s:27:"create_default_linked_label";}
args: a:2:{i:0;s:7:"company";i:1;i:1;} - of course you should change here second value from 1 to real company ID.

So there is no way to take what it actually exports in the form of Name [Company] and reverse that for import?

You're right, that due to notes architecture you're unable to use data import module to attach notes to certain records. I have no idea how to solve this quickly right now. It would be better if you could write a custom script to import your data.

I think I have it mostly figured out now. What I am trying to figure out is where is the Utils_AttachmentCommon::display_attached_to information stored? Is it in that function?

attached to is stored in separate table called utils_attachment_local. There is a link of every note record to the place where it should appear. Where local in most cases is just <recordset name>/<record id> like contact/23. You could leave func and args as nulls (N; - serialized null value) and default record link label will be used.
